The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation did not want justanother typical rest stop with brochure racks. They wanted the Welcome Center to be an exciting place to greet visitors and make a great first impression of Pennsylvania. The rich colors and patterns ofthe wall and floor surfaces, skylights, glass curtain walls, andcathedral ceiling adorned with colorful banners, that depict variousPennsylvania themes, provide a pleasant and inviting interior.
